Ukrainian MiG-29 pilot Capt. Marat Mambetov was killed in combat on October 1 while carrying out a strike against Russian forces. His aircraft was hit by a Russian missile during the mission. Mambetov ejected but did not survive. He served as a flight commander with Ukraine’s 40th Tactical Aviation Brigade, known as the “Ghost of Kyiv.”
